<\/div>[vc_column_text css_animation=”bottom-to-top”]To mark the anniversary of the Montr\u00e9al Declaration on Metropolitan Areas<\/a> (2015), on October 7th, we commemorate the World Metropolitan Day. Every year, on that date, we observe the metropolitan nature of many territories worldwide. For those spaces, where greatest transformations happen, affecting at least a third part of the global population and the 60% of world\u2019s urban residents[1], we promote cooperation to achieve sustainable and integrative territorial development.[\/vc_column_text]

World Metropolitan Day 2022 – Crossing Boundaries<\/h5>\n

This year\u2019s motto for World Metropolitan Day is Crossing Boundaries<\/b>. WORLD METROPOLITAN DAY IS A GLOBAL CAMPAIGN LED BY METROPOLIS AND UN-HABITAT PROMOTING COLLECTIVE ACTION TO BUILD MORE EQUITABLE AND PROSPEROUS METROPOLISES<\/blockquote><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column offset=”vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][vc_column_text]The impact of global megatrends goes beyond borders. This is the case for the drop in quality of life due to deepening poverty and inequality, inflation and lack of access to affordable housing and adequate support in our care systems.
\nOn 7 October 2022, communities and authorities of metropolitan cities across the world are invited to reaffirm their commitment to crossing boundaries and bridging the gaps. This is how we can achieve more integrated metropolitan areas that are home to thriving communities and provide solutions to the challenges of their people, and of the planet.<\/p>\n
